"The Old Fox of ’45 is the 5th and most recent collection of songs from Calamateur, the band’s 3rd release for Autoclave Records, and it's debut full length album.

Released under his Calamateur moniker, The Old Fox of ’45 is publicity shy Andrew Howie’s most assured and accomplished offering to date. This time he’s even allowed us to see his name on the credits and a relatively distinct photograph of what (we can only assume) is the man himself looking at a CD booklet.

The stylistic range is just as eclectic as ever, taking in underground rock, experimental electronica, post-folk and distressed pastoralism; but there’s no hiding behind effects, no posturing. This is the sound of a man coming out of seclusion."

All songs written, played, recorded, produced, mixed & mastered by andrew howie, except 'half truth' (written by calamateur & mark russell. drums: pat fagan. guitar: mark russell. contains a sample of the album 'never mind the jerkys' by hangup on godbless records. used with permission - at least, brendan o'hare told me a couple of years ago in the pub it would be ok) and 'automobile noise' (written by p.buchanan & r.bell. published by flag 22).

All songs recorded at fertility doll studios (glasgow & inverness) except 'half truth', 'automobile noise', 'universal rehearsal' & 'desperate days' recorded at badass studios (glasgow). drums on 'half truth' recorded by dochan & andy at north glasgow college .
